Greg Smith - Head Athletic Trainer
Greg Smith returns to the Capitals for a fifth season as the team's head athletic trainer, while marking his ninth campaign overall in professional hockey. Smith joined Washington in 1999 from the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, where he was the head athletic trainer for two seasons.

He has also gained international experience in his career, having served as the athletic trainer for Team USA at the 1998 World Hockey Championships. Prior to his stint in Anaheim, Smith was head athletic trainer with the AHL's Baltimore Bandits. He began his professional hockey career as an athletic trainer intern with the Capitals during the 1994-95 season.

A native of Bowie, Md., Smith received his bachelor's degree in physical education from Salisbury State University with a concentration in both special education and athletic training. He went on to earn a master's degree in athletic training at California University of Pennsylvania. He also earned his master's in sports science from the International Sports Science Association.
